Southport earned a vital point at Rushden & Diamonds to keep themselves out of the relegation zone.
Matt Johnson scored from six yards to hand Rushden the lead, before Matty McGinn equalised from the spot after Gary Mills felled Shaun Whalley.
Whalley then completed the Yellows comeback when he latched on to a punt upfield and chipped keeper Joe Day.
But Max Porter denied the visitors all three points with a heavily-deflected effort that trickled in.
