Prop Brian Mujati has become a fans' favourite at Northampton this season |
Front-row forwards Brian Mujati and Brett Sharman have both signed new contracts with Northampton Saints. It follows Friday's announcement that Scotland prop Euan Murray has left Franklin's Gardens by mutual consent. South African prop Mujati (26) and hooker Sharman (23) have both shone in an outstanding start to the season. "Brian and Brett have showed they have what it takes to compete at the top end of the Premiership," said Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder. "It's massively important that we have a squad full of quality. And they've both improved a lot as players over the past year. "Their performances reflect the hard work they've put in on and off the field. "But they're still young men and we believe they have their best years ahead of them. | The coaches have taught me a lot since I've been here and it seems to be paying off now |
Mujati, who has already made 12 appearances for the Springboks, is in his second season at Northampton with four tries to his credit from 38 games four tries to his credit. "I've been made to feel very welcome by everyone at the club and in the town," he said. "I'm certainly happy to sign on again. "We've had some success but we're still improving as a squad and I'm sure there'll be more to come in the near future." Sharman, South African-born but qualified for England, has played 44 matches in just over two years at Northampton. "It was a very easy decision to sign on again," said Sharman. "The club is going in the right direction and I want to be part of that. "The coaches have taught me a lot since I've been here and it seems to be paying off now."
