Colin Charvis became defence and forwards coach at Rodney Parade |
Colin Charvis has parted company with Newport Gwent Dragons as the Welsh region's forwards and defence coach, BBC Sport Wales understands. The 37-year-old, who won 94 Wales caps and was a two-Test 2001 British and Irish Lion, has been at Rodney Parade since joining as a player in 2006. Charvis became player-coach before hanging up his boots at the end of the 2008/9 season to coach full time. Both the Dragons and the coach have refused to comment. Charvis had stints with London Welsh, Swansea, Tarbes and Newcastle during his playing career and has also become a regular rugby pundit on television. Recently Sutton Coldfield-born Charvis took part in the Captain's Climb charity event, which saw 15 former Wales captains climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa to raise money for a cancer charity.
