Hercus has played for Sale, the Scarlets and the Dragons |
USA Eagles captain Mike Hercus has left the Dragons to return to the States with California club Belmont Shore. The fly-half, 27, moved from the States to Sale in 2004, joined Llanelli Scarlets the following year, and moved to Newport Gwent Dragons last summer.
"There are great things happening in US rugby right now," said Hercus, the Eagles' all-time leading scorer, who will arrive in the States on Wednesday.
Ex-Australia Under-21 player Hercus played for Belmont Shore in 2002/3.
"I think it is very good for USA Rugby that Mike is coming back," said Eagles coach Peter Thorburn.
"He will do a great service in lifting the standard of play for rugby in America, as he is a role model for his peers and an outstanding player to teach best practices."
