Rugby, not nightlife for Falcons star Luke Fielden
Fielden has scored two tries in the European Challenge Cup this season
Newcastle Falcons winger Luke Fielden is focussing on rugby rather than nightlife on his return to Tyneside.
The former Northumbria University student, now 25, is back in the region after a summer switch to the Falcons from Bedford Blues.
He told BBC Newcastle: "It's nice to come back and I'm enjoying it.
"It's a bit different, though, not being a student and not being able to go out midweek and enjoy the sights of the Bigg Market."
Fielden studied sport development coaching at Northumbria University but moved away to begin his rugby career in National One and the Championship.
And, after three successful years at the lower levels, he made the jump to the Premiership this summer when he signed for the Falcons from Bedford.
He added: "There are huge differences in the Premiership and it's taking me a bit of getting used to.
"Initially just the full-time training was a shock to the system. Over the summer I got used to that then it was the challenge of coming up against stronger opposition.
"It took a big of getting used to but every game I play now I feel more and more comfortable."
Fielden arrived at Kingston Park with a reputation as a prolific try-scorer after touching down 14 times in 25 Championship starts for Bedford last season.
He has two tries to his name from six outings for the Falcons.
