Newcastle Falcons have made a new signing, with Chris Micklewood joining from French club Brive. Micklewood, 22, is a utility back who can play half-back and three-quarters, and has South African Under-18 honours. He came through the Natal Sharks academy, and will compete with Alex Tait and new signing Rob Vickerman from Leeds Carnegie for a first team spot. The deal take rugby director Steve Bates' signings to six ahead of the 2009-10 Premiership season.
