Full-back Delon Armitage is a product of the London Irish academy |
London Irish's England full-back Delon Armitage says he has no intention of leaving a club he owes a great deal. His younger brother Steffon has been linked with a controversial move to Toulon where Jonny Wilkinson plays. But Armitage Snr, 27, sought to re-assure supporters about his future, telling BBC Berkshire: "I've been here 10 years now and I'm happy where I am. "It's by playing for Irish that I had a chance to play for England so I owe the club a lot," he added. The elder Armitage brother admits that the speculation about Steffon's future had made things awkward for him. "It's been very difficult," he said. "I try not to get involved. "It's a massive decision for him and, whatever decision he makes, I'll stick by him because he's my brother. "If he needs advice, I'm happy to be there for him but I'm not going to tell him what to do. "Whatever he decides to do, it means nothing to me because I'm happy playing for London Irish." Delon added that, despite the lure of playing rugby in France, where he grew up, he has no intention of leaving. "I've a lot of friends down there trying to drag me back, but I still want to play for England. "And, if that means staying in England, that's what I'm going to do, at London Irish. "I wouldn't play for another Premiership club."
