Booth is a former forwards coach of England Saxons |
London Irish head coach Toby Booth has signed a new three-year contract that will see him stay with the Exiles until the end of the 2012/13 season. Booth joined the club in 2002 and helped set up the academy, overseeing the rise of Delon Armitage, Topsy Ojo and Nick Kennedy, among others. He progressed to forwards coach before becoming head coach in 2008. "I'm excited about our coaching ability, achievements and potential," Booth told the club website. "We have raised the bar and will embrace the challenge to drive this team onto greater things. "We have a team that is good enough to defeat anyone and we have some exciting new signings joining us to increase our competitiveness next season." Booth's period in charge at Irish has been their most successful in the professional era. His first season at the helm saw the club make the Premiership final where they lost out by just one point to Leicester Tigers. This term they competed in the Heineken Cup campaign and won at reigning champions Leinster, but narrowly failed to make the knock-out stages.
