Daniel Braid has been playing for Australian side Queensland Reds |
The Scarlets have cancelled Daniel Braid's contract after the New Zealand openside flanker ruptured his Achilles, according to reports in Australia. The region announced the 28-year-old's signing in April, but he was ruled out for six months a few days later. That prompted speculation the Scarlets would cancel the deal. The region have yet to confirm their intentions. Braid told Brisbane's Courier Mail he is now considering his options, which include staying at Queensland Reds. The Kiwi could also return to his homeland. He said: "They are a great bunch to play for at the Reds and there's also going back to New Zealand." Braid was due to arrive in Llanelli in July in time to start the new season. The Scarlets have been asked to comment on the situation.
