Morgan Stoddart being carried off the field against Edinburgh |
Morgan Stoddart is out for the rest of the season after injuring knee ligaments in the Magners League match against Edinburgh. The Scarlets confirmed the 24-year-old full-back could now struggle to make the start of the 2009-20010 campaign. Stoddart was carried off at the end of the 13-6 Edinburgh victory after setting up one of Scarlets' two tries. "I can't remember a season like it for injuries," said coach Nigel Davies after Sunday's victory. "Every game we play seems to add to our injury list - and they're not just minor things either." Stoddart had a scan on his knee on Monday and is expected to have more treatment this week to see if he needs surgery. | 606: DEBATE |
A Scarlets spokesman said: "Morgan is out for the rest of the season and it could be it is touch and go whether he makes the start of next season." As well as Stoddart the Scarlets, who moved up to fourth place in the league following the weekend win, have a growing injury list of key players. Centre Regan King is sidelined with a hamstring injury and fellow New Zealand international, prop Kees Meeuws will not play again this season after picking up an Achilles problem. Scrum-half Martin Roberts is also a concern after leaving the field at half-time with a rib cartilage problem. On top of that British Lion Dafydd James has been out with a neck injury since the first week of the season and centre Rob Higgitt is recovering from a broken ankle.
