Dafydd Jones will remain a Llanelli Scarlet until 2011 |
Flanker Dafydd Jones hopes signing for Llanelli Scarlets for the next three years will help him regain his place in the Wales team. The 28-year-old, 29-times capped player has returned to form despite the Scarlets' disappointing season. He said: "I've got huge ambitions to play for Wales again. "I feel good. I'm happy with myself and am enjoying my rugby. If I'm playing well enough then hopefully I can push my international claims." | I had offers to go elsewhere but after considering all my options, I decided to continue my career with the Scarlets |
Jones played against England in the 11-9 win in 2005 that kicked off Wales' Grand Slam campaign, but missed the rest of that season through injury. He last played for Wales against France in 2006, appearing as a replacement, and says he turned down offers from elsewhere to remain with the Scarlets. Jones said: "I had offers to go elsewhere but after considering all my options, I decided to continue my career with the Scarlets. "I'm delighted to have signed for the Scarlets. I'm an ambitious player and the Scarlets are an ambitious side. I've always been a Llanelli fan and always been a Llanelli player." Jones made his Llanelli debut against Leeds in February 1997 and went on to play 85 games for the club, scoring 14 tries. He has added 85 appearances for the Scarlets region where he has scored nine tries, the last one in last Saturday's home defeat by Leinster.
