Phil Davies is disappointed at the Scarlets' season |
Llanelli Scarlets director of rugby Phil Davies hopes his side can finish a "disappointing" season strongly. Leaders Leinster ended the West Wales region's Magners League title hopes with a 24-10 win at Stradey Park. Davies said: "It's disappointing. We've progressed in some ways and in other ways we haven't. We've got four games left and have to go to Cardiff. "Then we go to Glasgow and have two home games. We want to win those games and finish in a strong position." | 606: DEBATE |
The Scarlets' topsy-turvy form was in evidence as they were beaten by Leinster. Davies says the Dublin-based province deserved their victory for the way they adapted to the grim conditions. He said: "We were pretty disappointed, really. You could always say we put the effort in, but you generally expect that anyway. "In the first-half we didn't have any form of momentum or control. We had a little bit towards the end of the second-half, but we were beaten by a better team. | Conditions were poor and they adapted far better than we did |
"Conditions were poor and they adapted far better than we did and it was a pretty disappointing performance. "We had a good period at the beginning of the second-half. At half-time we walked about winning the collisions, being physical and controlling the football and did that in the first part of the second-half. "But then we lost a few crucial line-outs. They scored a couple of tries around the ruck area and we never really regained the momentum we set off with. "And they got a score pretty quickly after we got ourselves back in the game."
