Llanelli Scarlets have signed former All Black second-row Simon Maling from Japanese side Suntory. Maling, 32, spent his career in New Zealand up until 2004 and represented his country in the last two of those years.
He left New Zealand for Harlequins before heading to Japan and will join up with his new team in the summer.
Scarlets chief executive Stuart Gallager said: "He's the type of player we're looking for to bolster our pack."
Maling added: "I am looking forward to being back in a country where rugby is the number one sport.
"I had grown up hearing stories about Llanelli at Stradey Park so it will be great to be part of that."
