Pienaar has struggled to win a regular place at Welford Road
Leicester forward Ben Pienaar is desperate to seize his chance when Tigers host South Africa on Friday.
Tigers are missing a host of key men to injury and international call-ups, with Lewis Moody, Jordan Crane, Louis Deacon and Tom Croft all missing this weekend.
He told BBC Radio Leicester: "I have got to take my opportunity and if I play well hopefully I can keep those boys away for a little bit longer."
Pienaar, 23, was born in South Africa but moved to England 18 years ago.
He is relishing the chance to face the country of his birth and despite their weakened line-up, Pienaar is confident the Tigers will provide a tough test.
"It doesn't matter how many injuries we have got, whatever side we put out we are always physical," Pienaar said.
New signing Lote Tuqiri is also set to make his Tigers debut as a replacement for the glamour friendly at Welford Road.
