Tigers tee up Springboks friendly

Leicester

Leicester Tigers will play host to world champions South Africa in a friendly in November.

The match is part of the Springboks' autumn tour of Europe and will also see the opening of the new 10,000 seat Caterpillar Stand at Welford Road.

South Africa, who face Tigers on Friday 6 November, will also play France, Italy and Ireland in Test matches.

Chairman Peter Tom said: "It's a real honour and a fitting way to celebrate the opening of the Caterpillar Stand."

The opening of the new stand is the first phase of the redevelopment of Welford Road.

Tom added: "We have had some wonderful games against touring teams here at Welford Road in the past but we have never played the world champions.

"The game has got Tigers supporters buzzing and our ticket office has been receiving enquiries from rugby fans from all over the world."
