Cockerill aware of Ospreys threat

Leicester Tigers head coach Richard Cockerill says he is eager to keep up the club's record in the Heineken Cup.

Tigers have won the competition twice before and host Ospreys in their first match in Pool Three this weekend.

Cockerill told BBC East Midlands Today: "We have a huge history in the competition, we're the second most successful club after Toulouse.

"All English sides, with a fit squad, can compete with the best in Europe and we have done."

Cockerill also rejects the suggestion that English clubs might struggle due to playing more games and having less money than their European counterparts.

He said: "Last year there wasn't a French side in the semi-finals.

"The bigger budget helps but sometimes it's just people getting more money and doing less work."
