Departing Leicester centre Ayoola Erinle says the fact he has never quite established himself at Welford Road has made the decision to leave much easier.

Erinle is joining French side Biarritz after just over two years at the club.

And he appreciates head coach Richard Cockerill's honesty in telling him he would not be first choice next term.

Erinle, 29, told BBC Radio Leicester: "The coach was clear about things and it's nice to know where you stand. It made the decision (to leave) easier."

But Erinle insists he has no regrets from his time at the club.

The fans have welcomed me with open arms - which being a Wasps boy I wasn't quite expecting

The former Wasps back, who leaves with a Premiership winner's medal after playing a key role towards the end of the season, said: "I've thoroughly enjoyed it.

"I've been very fortunate that I've been involved with such great clubs in Wasps, Leicester and now Biarritz.

"The fans have welcomed me with open arms - which being a Wasps boy I wasn't quite expecting and that made the transition that much easier."
