Tigers to stick with squad - Tom

Peter Tom
Tom says the Tigers have plenty of young talent coming through

Chairman Peter Tom says Leicester Tigers are unlikely to be bringing in any new faces during the close season.

The Tigers won the Premiership and were narrowly beaten in the Heineken Cup final and Tom says the squad will get the chance to shine again next term.

"I think pretty well all the squad is in place now. I don't think there is anybody else to come," he said.

"We have a very good squad for next season with a lot of very good young players coming through which is great."

Tom added that the disappointment of coming so close to winning a league and European double was hard to take.

But he said the progress made since Richard Cockerill took over as head coach has been hugely impressive.

"We've had a long, long season and it's been an immense effort," Tom said.

"Everybody would have settled for this at Christmas but when you get to a final you want to win them.

"To be so close is very hard to take but you have to enjoy winning and deal with losing."
