Cockerill is standing in for head coach Heyneke Meyer |
Leicester Tigers stand-in coach Richard Cockerill was proud his team finished top of Heineken Cup pool three despite a 15-9 defeat by Ospreys on Saturday. The result guaranteed them a home fixture against Bath in the quarter-final stage of the competition. Cockerill told BBC Radio Leicester: "The last four weeks have been tough for everybody but credit goes to the players, the board and coaches." "We've dealt with issues and we've worked hard and got some reward." "We're in a relatively good position in the Premiership with 10 games to go and we're in the quarter finals of the European Cup, so for once let's be proud of what we've achieved." Bath scraped through to the quarter-final stage with a meagre 3-3 draw against Toulouse on Sunday. The quarter-final tie, on 11 April, may be moved to the Walkers Stadium.
