Varndell looks to raise his game

Tom Varndell
Varndell hopes to become England's main winger

England winger Tom Varndell admits he feels frustrated after failing to score for Leicester Tigers in their first two games of the season.

Varndell forced his way back into the England squad earlier this year after becoming Leicester's top try scorer for the third successive season.

"I love to score tries and that's my job," the 23-year-old told BBC Radio Leicester.

"I want to show England that I'm the number one winger."

Varndell believes the new rules, the new coaching set-up and a number of injuries have made it difficult for the Tigers to make progress.

"Hopefully, things will start settling down soon. I'll get a bit more ball and do more with it as well," he added.
