Leicester Tigers props Martin Castrogiovanni and Marcos Ayerza have signed three-year contract extensions with the Premiership champions.

Castrogiovanni, 26, has been capped 49 times by Italy and was last season's Premiership player of the year.

Ayerza, 25, joined in the summer of 2006 and has already played 40 times.

Leicester coach Marcelo Loffreda said: "We believe Martin and Marcos are among the best young props around, and we are delighted they are happy to stay."

Castrogiovanni added: "I am enjoying my time at Leicester, and when you are happy it makes the decision easier to stay.

"There is an excellent squad of players here and the supporters have been great to me since I arrived.

"Those things helped to make me very happy to agree a new contract."
