Leeds Carnegie's Andy Titterrell retains England hopes
Titterrell formerly played at Gloucester and Sale
Leeds Carnegie hooker Andy Titterell still has hopes of returning to the full England side.
The 29-year-old starred for the Saxons over the summer, but was not named in either of the two Elite national squads for the new season.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: "I think getting called up for the Saxons was recognition of how I played towards the back end of the season I joined Leeds.
"I do want to get capped by England again - I want that opportunity."
Titterell initially joined Leeds on a three-month loan deal in November 2009 after being released by Gloucester.
He made 11 appearances over the campaign and played a key part in Carnegie's run of good results at the end of the season that ultimately secured their safety.
He made his full England debut in 2004 against New Zealand, and the following year his form earned him selection to the British and Irish Lions squad for the tour to New Zealand.
Titterell is now hoping that his performances for Leeds could see him add to his five England caps.
"I'll continue to play and put Leeds first, so if I'm performing well then my hand's always up in the air," Titterell said.
"I can only train and play as hard as I can out on the field, and if that's recognised by the England coaches, then that's fantastic."
