Harlequins have signed former Leicester and Leeds fly-half Craig McMullen as short-term cover for Andrew Mehrtens. Mehrtens will be out of action for six to eight weeks after knee surgery, and Australian McMullen will act as back-up to Adrian Jarvis for three months.
"We have brought in Craig to bolster that position," Quins director of rugby Dean Richards told BBC London.
"He has a great deal of ability and will add to the squad for three months while 'Mehrts' is recuperating."
McMullen, 33, has played in the Premiership before with Bristol (1999/2000), Leicester (2002/03) and Leeds (2004/05), helping the Tykes win the Powergen Cup in 2005.
He has also represented the ACT Brumbies in the old Super 12, and played in France with Begles-Bordeaux, Narbonne and, last season, Clermont-Auvergne.
