Charlie Sharples eyes a run at full-back for Gloucester
Sharples has scored 13 tries from 27 starts for Gloucester
Gloucester back Charlie Sharples says he is happy to keep playing full-back for as long as he is required to.
The 21-year-old usually plays on the wing, but wore the number 15 shirt in the win against Leeds, with Olly Morgan and Freddie Burns both out injured.
"I still think my first choice position is on the wing, but I'd like to branch out and play a bit at full-back," Sharples told BBC Gloucestershire.
"I'll hopefully keep playing there until those boys come back fit."
Sharples' efforts resulted in him being given Gloucester's man of the match award in their 22-21 win over Leeds at Kingsholm.
Although the performance was unimpressive in patches, the result gave the Cherry and Whites their first victory of the season after a 22-10 opening day defeat at Exeter.
Sharples insists he relished the challenge of adapting to a new position, even if he found the going tough, meaning he could not last the full 80 minutes.
"I had a bit of cramp. It was my first game of the season, so I probably wasn't totally match fit," he said.
"That comes, but I found at 15 there was a lot more running than on the wing, so I was blowing quite hard at some points in the game. I probably blew myself out a bit and started cramping up."
"That's something I'll just hope won't happen again for the rest of the season."
