Lawson spent four years at Glasgow Warriors before moving south |
Gloucester hooker and former Glasgow Warrior Scott Lawson says his side need to stop half-backs Chris Cusiter and Dan Parks if they are to win on Friday. The Cherry and Whites travel to Glasgow in the Heineken Cup looking to stay in touch with group leaders Biarritz. "In particular Dan Parks, the way he plays, the team is shaped round him," Lawson told BBC Gloucestershire. "And Cusiter's possibly been the difference for them in their league position compared to last season." Lawson continued: "Chris's got great tempo and great experience and I think he learnt a lot when he went to France for a couple of years. "They're a vital two players in their team." | They do kick it an awful lot but they back it up with a very good chase so we've got to be very clinical and play in the right areas of the pitch |
The Warriors currently sit at the top of the Magners League level on points with their Scottish rivals Edinburgh. And with their notoriously narrow Firhill Ground, the 28-year-old, who spent four years there from 2003, is expecting a very tactical game. "I think they'll kick us back into our own half and into the corners," he said. "They've got some pace in the backs with Thom Evans and his brother Max. "They do kick it an awful lot but they back it up with a very good chase so we've got to be very clinical and play in the right areas of the pitch." Gloucester go into the game having beaten Newport Gwent Dragons at home but losing heavily away to Biarritz and Lawson sees this as a crucial stage in the competition. "The third game in a lot of groups will be decided in terms of who's favourites to go through and who's not," he added. "And we've got to be in contention come the fourth or fifth round."
