Ryan warns international players

Dean Ryan
Ryan called his players "outstanding" for an hour against Bristol

Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan has warned his international stars might not walk straight back into the team, after Friday's 39-10 win over Bristol.

Seven players were on international duty as the Cherry & Whites made it four wins in a row and went third.

Ryan told BBC Radio Gloucestershire: "We have got to remember we have got seven internationals away.

"Those seven have to start looking back and thinking 'well, how am I going to get back in?'."

He added: "That's an important balance we have to get right."

For 50 to 60 minutes, we showed good decision making, made good choices and it was an outstanding performance

Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan
Ryan was impressed by his side's performance in the West Country derby victory.

"There was some good work by the forwards and some clinical execution from the backs. Collectively I think we deserve a pat on the back for a good job."

Gloucester led 25-3 at the break and only added two more tries after the break, but Ryan does not think it was realistic to expect them to maintain their impressive start.

"When you're winning by such a big margin the opposition don't kick the ball and you get a little bit frustrated and start looking for it too much.

"But for 50 to 60 minutes we showed good decision making, made good choices and it was an outstanding performance."
