Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan said it would have been disrespectful to their opponents to expect much more from his team's 39-16 win over relegated Leeds.
"That would change the dynamic of the game and Leeds deserve some credit," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire. "
Ryan said the Leeds defending prompted a tactical re-think at half time.
"We said 'if we're going to get this bonus point we're going to have to be more direct, we can't expect to run round these guys'," he explained.
Maximum points kept Gloucester at the top of the Premiership, but the Kingsholm faithful will have half an eye on Wasps, who have a game in hand on the Cherry and Whites and moved up to third place with a bonus point win over Saracens on Sunday.
But Ryan said his team's performance against Leeds ticked a lot of boxes for him.
"You've just got to look at performing every week, you don't always get what you want every week and I thought we did a lot of good things.
"We didn't deviate from what we set out to do and enthusiasm and willingness to tackle is not a massive skill. If you can harness it and get it then you will be competitive."
