Gloucester centre Mike Tindall is feeling fine since returning to competitive rugby just two months after bruising his liver in the Six Nations. His return as a replacement was one of the positives Gloucester took from Saturday's defeat against Munster. "Everything's all right," said the 29- year-old centre. "It gives the lungs a bit more of a test-out." "At the first line-out, I was given the ball and ran it in to someone, and that pretty much puts your mind at ease." The final decision to declare himself fit to return in time for the Heineken Cup quarter-final defeat was one that Tindall made himself. | If we can't focus on the next two home games and get two wins there then there's problems |
A bruised liver is an injury virtually unknown in sport, and Tindall admits he has taken calculated risks in making his comeback. "If I waited until there was nothing on scans you could be talking four, five, six months. "I'd been training for two weeks and had no ill-effects when the surgeon said I shouldn't have still been running, and the imaging that was on the scans was so much better. "It was then my call whether I was involved on the weekend." Tindall concedes there may be a lack of motivation in the Gloucester camp after the disappointment of the Munster game, but he says it won't last for long. "When you've got the hype of two competitions it motivates people a lot more. Obviously there's a lot of frustration and disappointment about the fact that we're out and you can't hide from that. "In some ways you can use that, we've got one goal to go for and if we can't focus on the next two home games and get two wins then there are problems. "But that's not going to stop us going out there and trying to perform like we did on the weekend - but without the mistakes."
