Parks believes Warriors can win league

Dan Parks believes there is a great chance that his final act for Glasgow Warriors will be to lift the Magners League title.

Weekend results mean Warriors are guaranteed a place in the first-ever play-offs between the top four teams.

"Once you are in there, it's a case of two good games and you could come away victors," said the fly-half who is moving to Cardiff in the summer.

"That's the beauty of the play-off system. It is a huge opportunity."

Beating leaders Leinster ensured Glasgow's qualification and now they sit third, a point behind Ospreys, going into the final games next Friday.

Glasgow travel to face Scarlets for what Parks describes as "a huge game" while Ospreys face Welsh rivals Dragons in the chase for second-top spot and a home semi-final.

This season has been awesome. It has been really enjoyable

"We've hopefully got three more games that can hopefully culminate in a win, but we have a lot of hard work to do before then," said the Scotland international.

"We need to do our job first up and that's to beat the Scarlets and, if we can get a bonus point, that would be great.

"We are going down there with the mindset of winning and seeing what happens.

"If we can get a home semi, it would be absolutely fantastic and the boys are up for it."

Edinburgh only have an outside chance of making the play-offs even if they manage to beat Leinster away from home and Parks was disappointed that the other Scottish team in the competition was now unlikely to make it through.

However, he was hopeful that Friday's win over Leinster would not prove to be his last at Firhill.

"It was very nice," he said of the reception from the home support. "The fans in respect to me have been fantastic.

"They have been right behind me even when at times they have not been the greatest.

"I will take a lot of that heart that they have given me over the years and hopefully take it to Cardiff and move on in the right direction.

"But certainly this season has been awesome. It has been really enjoyable."

Parks thinks the new Magners League format has increased interest and excitement.

"I think the way the competition is, it is really tight," he said. "Last week, there were seven teams who could have potentially make the play-offs.

"In years gone by, it has been a consistency thing all season to see if you could finish on top of the table and take the crown.

"Whereas this year, you could possibly be afforded poor weeks here and there and make the top four and do something from there.

"If we get in there and have two big games, potentially we could win it and there would be no greater feeling for me personally than to leave on that note and to thank the city of Glasgow for what has been an incredible seven years of my life."
