Kimlin stint at Exeter Chiefs ends after knee injury

Australian international lock Peter Kimlin has left Exeter Chiefs after suffering a knee injury.

The 25-year-old, who damaged knee ligaments during training on Monday, is now set to return to Australia and parent club, Super 15 side Brumbies.

Kimlin made three appearances for Exeter since signing a three-month contract in October.

"I'm pretty disappointed about what's happened, but it's just one of those things," he said.

Kimlin, who has two international caps, was out injured for the majority of last season for Brumbies, and now faces a further 12 weeks on the sidelines.

He added: "I'll head back and get into pre-season, they've been back for three weeks, so hopefully my knee recovers well and I'll go from there - I'm just trying to stay positive at the moment."

Exeter head coach Rob Baxter added: "I think he would have featured a fair bit over the next few weeks, but these things happen.

"It was a training ground incident, he clashed with a player on his own team in a game of touch and sadly that is it for him now."
