Cartwirght has left Edinburgh to pursue a career in the USA
Nic Cartwright is resigning his post as chief executive of Edinburgh Rugby to pursue a career in sports management in the USA. Cartwright joined the Magners League outfit three years ago after leaving the same post with Harlequins. He explained: "My wife is American and I've always dreamed of working there. I am proud of what has been achieved both on and off the pitch at Edinburgh." The club say an announcement on a successor will be made "in due course." Gordon McKie, Scottish Rugby's chief executive, said: "I would like to record my appreciation for all Nic's hard work with Edinburgh over the past three years. "He has led the club to some notable successes both on and off the pitch and he leaves with our good wishes." | I genuinely believe we can continue to make progress at Edinburgh Edinburgh chief executive Nic Cartwright |
Edinburgh were vying for the lead in the Magners League for much of this season before a late slump led to a sixth-place finish. And Cartwright believes the foundations have been laid for greater success at Murrayfield. "I have enjoyed my time with Edinburgh," he told the club website. "It's been a privilege to work with so many talented individuals both with Edinburgh and with Scottish Rugby, but I believe the time is right now to move on. "I genuinely believe we can continue to make progress at Edinburgh and I will always take a keen interest in the club's form and results." "Even this season, we won three out of three home ties in the Heineken Cup and were the top try scorers in the Magners League. "Off the pitch, we are attracting more supporters, we have renewed our sponsorship deal with Aberdeen Asset Management on improved terms and we are increasing our season ticket holders year on year."
