Flanker Ross Rennie is one of four players to extend their contracts |
Ross Rennie is among four members of Edinburgh's first team squad to agree new contracts with the club. The promising openside flanker is joined by versatile back John Houston and scrum half Greig Laidlaw in signing up for a further two years. Winger Andrew Turnbull signed a year-long extension at Murrayfield. "I'm very happy about committing myself to another two years at Edinburgh," said Rennie, who has played a key role for the side this season. The 22-year old's impressive form with the Magners League side was rewarded in February when he made his Scotland test debut against Ireland. And he is delighted with how things have progressed over the course of the last year. "The most pleasing aspect this season has been the way the team has come together and managed to produce some good results. "I have been here for a long time both as an apprentice and as a professional, so I know what Edinburgh is about. "It is my local team and I?ve played here for a few years now along with the vast majority of the players. It is a great club and I?m very happy to be a part of it." The Edinburgh-born forward has pointed towards team boss Andy Robinson as a big factor in his progress. The head coach was a former openside flanker for the British and Irish Lions. And Rennie says Robinson's knowledge of playing the position has been extremely helpful. "Obviously Andy has been a big influence on me and he has really helped me to develop my game. "He is very good at drip-feeding us information about how he wants us to play the game. He has been very good for me this season."
