Chris Czekaj has figured in six of their seven matches this season |
Blues captain Paul Tito has criticised Wales coach Warren Gatland for not selecting the in-form Chris Czekaj in his squad for the autumn series. The 24-year-old has been almost ever-present in the Blues' line-up this season at wing or full-back. And he was seen by many as being a useful back-up for Lee Byrne in the Wales number 15 role. "I thought he'd definitely make it and I was pretty gutted for him really not to have make it," said Tito. "I thought he was harshly treated with and hopefully we will see a big performance out of him [against the Scarlets]. "I think he has been one of the Blues best performers all year. | 606: DEBATE |
"If I was going to pick a couple of players who have put their hand up every week he would definitely be one of them. "But he has got an opportunity this weekend to prove his point and I'm sure he is not written off for the World Cup just yet so have has another 12 months [to prove himself]." Czekaj has suffered his injury setbacks. He missed 14 months after shattering his right femur in five places during Wales' second Test defeat by Australia in Brisbane in June 2007. He has won seven caps as a wing but has played at 15 for the Blues twice this season. Despite Tito's criticism of Czekaj's omission he has welcomed the selection of 21-year-old tighthead prop Scott Andrews. "[Scott] is a good boy. He is obviously a young guy that they've seen an eye for the future there," added Tito "He has still got a lot to learn which is great for a young prop. Everyone needs to learn. I'm still learning and I'm over the hill a bit. "He is a good lad. He listens and takes a lot in. I was really stoked when I heard he was in the [squad]."
