Molitika is seen as cover for the injured Andy Powell |
Tonga back-row forward Maama Molitika is returning to Cardiff Blues after a season in Japan with IBM Big Blue RFC. The well-travelled 32-year-old was at the Arms Park club 2005-6, following previous spells with Bridgend, Celtic Warriors and Harlequins.
"Maama is a quality player and we are glad to have him him back," said Blues director of coaching Dai Young.
"We were dealt a blow when Andy Powell picked up a long-term injury at the end of the season, Maama strengthens us."
Meanwhile, Fijian wing Mosese Luveitasau has left Wales after a year with the Blues.
"We've agreed by mutual consent to the early termination of Mosese's contract," said Blues chief executive Robert Norster.
"I would like to place on record our thanks to the player for his services during his time with the team and wish him good luck in his future career."
Luveitasau, 27, made 19 appearances last season, scoring six tries.
Young this week moved to recruit three-quarter Tal Selley from the Ospreys on a season-long loan, to cover for long-term injury Chris Czekaj.
Tom James, Gareth Thomas and Rhys Williams are the other senior Blues squad members who are happy on the wing.
