Bristol's Lemi gets two-week ban

Bristol winger David Lemi has been handed a two-week ban by the Rugby Football Union after admitting to a dangerous tackle on Paul Diggin.

Lemi will miss Friday's European Challenge Cup clash with Toulon, but could face Montpellier on 25 January.

The Samoan international was cited by the RFU on 8 January, five days after the tackle on Northampton back Diggin.

The 25-year-old was already serving a two-week club ban for the offence and missed Sunday's defeat at Saracens.

Speaking last week, Bristol head coach Richard Hill said: "We have looked closely at the match footage with David.

"Although there was no malicious intent we feel the correct thing to do is to stand him down for the next two games.

"This was not an easy decision as we obviously badly need a player of David's talents."

Bristol are currently bottom of the Guinness Premiership, seven points adrift of Newcastle.
