Bristol scrum-half Shaun Perry could be sidelined for 12 weeks after injuring his shoulder in the friendly at Exeter.

Perry will undergo surgery to have a pin inserted in the shoulder next week, while prop Darren Crompton will be out for eight weeks with an ankle injury.

Head coach Richard Hill said: "We've three scrum halves and if Shaun can't make the opener against Bath on 7th of September it's their opportunity.

"It's not good news. But we've got a good squad with plenty of players."
