Bristol scrum-half Shaun Perry has said he is hoping his return to fitness will lead to him getting a quick recall to the England set-up.
Perry, who has been capped 14 times, missed four months of last season after fracturing his windpipe.
But he told BBC Points West: "My injury's fixed so I'm looking forward to getting some game time.
"I have had a good pre-season and my main job is to get back into that England team."
Perry said he has not spoken to new England manager Martin Johnson since his exclusion from the recent tour of New Zealand.
But he added: "I spoke to Fordy [England coach Mike Ford] and he said the main reason I wasn't in was because of the lack of game time which is fair enough.
"I only played eight Premiership games last year which is a massive disappointment but it's a new season and a new start."
