Interview: Bristol head coach Richard Hill

Bristol head coach Richard Hill has told BBC Points West he is confident the club will survive ground-sharing while the Memorial Ground is rebuilt.

"The Bristol mentality at the club is something special. I think when there's a few obstacles put in our way that's when we're at our best," said Hill.

"We've been in a few scrapes and we'll get Bristol through this."

"We've got to get a new stadium, we've got to go through this pain, we've got to go through this to survive."

Once building work begins, sharing Newport's Rodney Parade ground is currently the favoured plan and Hill is hoping the Bristol faithful won't be put off by the prospect of spending up to two seasons in Wales.

The club will do whatever we can to make life as painless as we possibly can

"I think Newport's about twenty minutes on the train from Bristol Temple Meads so it's pretty easy to get to.

"The club will do whatever we can, if we go to Newport, to lay on transport for them and make life as painless as we possibly can.

"I hope the vast majority of our supporters will help us and support us down there."

Playing at least some games Bristol City's Ashton Gate ground would be ideal but Hill understands the condition of the playing surface there may be a factor.

"They've probably looked at the Memorial Stadium turf at various points throughout the season and thought they probably don't want too much rugby played down there.

"It would be nice but it is another option and we'll have to wait a few weeks to see."
