Bristol have boosted their scrum-half resources with the signing of former Scotland international Graeme Beveridge from Glasgow Warriors for next season. The 31-year-old, who has six Scotland caps, has agreed a two-year deal.
Haydn Thomas has also been signed up as Bristol face losing Shaun Perry to the World Cup while Brian O'Riordan is out with a dislocated shoulder.
"We're very fortunate to be able to bring someone of Graeme's calibre into the squad," said coach Richard Hill.
"We could be missing Shaun for large chunks of the season and Brian will obviously miss pre-season because of his shoulder surgery.
"So, we were looking at going into next season with just Haydn Thomas and, had anything happened to him, we would have been in trouble.
"Graeme is a fine player who has represented Scotland in the past, including being part of the Rugby World Cup squad in 2003, as well as possessing plenty of experience at Heineken Cup level.
"He will do a fine job for us."
Beveridge made his debut for Scotland when he replaced Andy Nicol during the second Test of the 2000 summer tour to New Zealand.
He was named in the Scotland World Cup squad in 2003 but did not feature in any of the games. He has 14 caps for Scotland A.
