Thomas moves to Bristol at the second time of asking |
Gloucester scrum-half Haydn Thomas will join West Country rivals Bristol next season after signing a two-year deal. The 24-year-old, who joined Gloucester from Exeter in 2005, has made 14 starts for the club - scoring three tries.
"We need strength in depth in that position given that we could well be missing Shaun Perry on World Cup duty," said Bristol boss Richard Hill.
"He has a good pass and is quick and strong, capable of making breaks. He'll be a good signing for us."
Thomas first attracted Hill's attention when he coached the player in the England Students set-up, but he moved from Exeter to Gloucester instead.
"I know Haydn well from having coached him in the Students squad a couple of seasons back and he played against us for Exeter when we played in Division One," Hill added.
"I did make an effort to persuade him to join us when we got promoted and I'm delighted that he's said yes - at last!"
