Bath lock Stuart Hooper has praised Saturday's opponents Exeter Chiefs.

Exeter-born Hooper, 29, has been impressed with how the promoted side have equipped themselves in their first season since promotion.

Hooper told BBC Radio Bristol: "They've done themselves proud. They're a hard-working unit. We don't underestimate anyone and certainly not them.

"They clearly do their preparation very well and have picked up the results to reflect that."

Bath are currently five points clear of their neighbours ahead of their trip to Sandy Park.

Hooper has memories of watching the side at their old stadium, the County Ground.

"I remember watching them as a very young lad. Rob Baxter (Exeter coach) was playing there then and he is really part of the fabric of the club."

The former Leeds man is looking forward to playing in the Premiership's newest derby match.

"I'm sure the fans will be excited. I think they're almost sold out.

"I've had to put in a request for more tickets as I've got a lot of friends and and family coming, so I'd best play well," he joked.
