Attwood toured Australia and New Zealand with England last summer |
Bath have signed England forward Dave Attwood from Gloucester. The 23-year-old, who joined the Cherry and Whites from Bristol in the summer of 2009, has agreed a two-year deal at the Recreation Ground. "I am excited to be joining Bath, there are some amazing things going on at the club," said Attwood. "It is a great opportunity for me to push myself out of my comfort zone on the pitch and develop the brand of rugby that I can play." He continued: "I will be sorry to leave Kingsholm behind, but sometimes that is the way life pans out. | "Dave is a very big presence on the park and a lot for opposition players to handle, so he is going to make a significant impact for us. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there and appreciated working with everyone." Attwood's impressive performances for Gloucester led to his inclusion in the England squad for last summer's tour of Australia and New Zealand. He then came off the bench to make his international debut in the 26-16 defeat by New Zealand in November. Bath head coach Steve Meehan added: "Dave is a very big presence on the park and a lot for opposition players to handle, so he is going to make a significant impact for us. "He has very good line-out skills, and his style of play will work well with ours." The Bristol-born lock is currently serving a nine-week ban for stamping in Gloucester's 24-18 Amlin Challenge Cup defeat by La Rochelle in January.
