Meehan's Bath lost 12-11 at home to Biarritz in their first game this season |
Bath head coach Steve Meehan says keeping Biarritz's passionate fans quiet will be key to winning in France. Meehan is expecting a packed Parc des Sports Aguilera on Saturday as Bath go in search of a win that would give them a faint hope of Heineken Cup progress. "There's only one way to shut them up and that's put Biarritz on the back foot and put them in the corners and try and bury them," he told BBC Sport. "We know how well we're going judging by the noise their supporters make." Bath have had a second successive disappointing Heineken Cup campaign, winning just two of their five matches, both against Italian outfit Aironi. | First and foremost we hope to come away with a victory but we also want to represent our club and the supporters the best way possible |
They currently lie in third place in Pool Four on 13 points but can still mathematically qualify for the knock-out stages if they get a bonus-point win at Biarritz and Aironi beat Ulster at home. "I've been asked about various scenarios [required to progress] and I've got no idea but what I do know is that we've got to win to give ourselves a chance," said Meehan. "Biarritz have got plenty of strengths but they've got a couple of weaknesses and we're going to try and expose them as well. "First and foremost we hope to come away with a victory but we also want to represent our club and the supporters the best way possible."
