Tubbs has now scored 13 goals in his last 10 games
Crawley moved to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier with a goal in each half at mid-table Bath City.
The visitors went ahead on 10 minutes as Matt Tubbs, almost on the line, poked home Richard Brodie's cross.
Sergio Torres and Ben Smith then went close for Crawley, while Kaid Mohamed blazed Bath's best chance over the bar.
Tubbs' second of the night and 24th of the season came seven minutes from time, as his shot looped into the net from 16 yards.
Crawley manager Steve Evans told BBC Sussex: "We spoke long and hard about the fact that Luton Town came here and couldn't win the game and that Fleetwood came here and couldn't win the game.
"Managers remember these results. They don't remember beating the Lutons at Luton, that's great and its great for the fans. But you remember winning 2-0 at Twerton park on a cold Tuesday night.
"(Michel) Kuipers was outstanding and Pablo Mills led by example.
"And in Matt Tubbs you've got the best boy in the country to score goals outside the Championship - and maybe even in the Championship."
