Lewis Moody believes Bath can still push on in Europe

Lewis Moody has not given up hope of Bath reaching the Heineken Cup knockout stages despite losing 22-18 at Ulster.

Bath are third in Pool Four but leaders Biarritz were beaten 28-27 at Aironi.

"Everything's still to play for. The belief is there, we just need that result. When we get it we'll be turning the corner," Moody told BBC Somerset.

"It's up to us to put it right next week with some good, honest hard work during the week and this time hopefully we'll come off with the right result."

Bath need to win their three remaining matches in Europe, starting at home to Ulster on Saturday, to have any hope of stealing top spot in a pool in which first and fourth are split by seven points after the Italian outfit shocked last season's finalists.

They edged through in a contest as equally fraught and tight as the one at Ravenhill, which Bath let slip having opened an early 15-3 advantage on the scoreboard.

"It was an incredibly tough game," added Moody. "The boys fought their hearts out and the defence was outstanding. It's frustrating when they have that much ball and you defend that well but can't quite finish them off.

Ulster played a good territory game and we turned over more ball than we'd like. Those little things cost you a game

"It's a game we could and should have won and we just have to be positive now going forward and take the energy and the frustrations into next week."

Bath have now lost their last four games, all by a score or less, and have won just one of their last seven outings.

But England captain Moody hailed the team's commitment and passion in defeat in his first match after the autumn internationals and says the side will turn around their slump in fortunes with a little more composure going forward.

He said: "Ulster played a good territory game and we turned over more ball than we'd like. Those little things cost you a game.

"We'll be working on that but we have to have the belief in ourselves because the performance was there.

"The guts and determination to keep them from our try line was there and we've just got to reciprocate that in attack by holding onto the ball and having the complete belief and commitment that we can retain the ball through every phase and go on and score."
