Moody 'devastated' to miss Tigers match
Former Leicester players Lewis Moody and Sam Vesty have been giving their Bath team-mates valuable insight into how to beat the Tigers on Saturday.
Moody and Vesty joined in the summer from Welford Road and are determined to help Bath earn only their second Premiership win there in 15 years.
"We've done a fair bit of the video analysis and previews on what Leicester can do," Vesty told BBC Points West.
"With Lewis being out injured he took a few of the sessions."
The 28-year-old fly-half continued: "It was interesting to try and look at Leicester and how to beat them rather than watching them thinking this is us doing well."
Vesty has no time for sentiment
While Vesty will have the challenge of out-doing his old mates on the field, England international Moody will have to satisfy himself with a place in the stands as he recovers from an eye injury.
"I'd dearly love to be playing at Welford Road this season but that's the way it goes and I'll have to wait for another year," Moody reflected.
"I'm genuinely excited about watching the game, I'm just devastated I can't be involved."
Bath's trips to the East Midlands side last season saw them get soundly beaten 43-20 in the Premiership and get edged out 15-6 in the play-off semi-final.
And having been part of the Tigers side that saw off countless teams from home and abroad, Vesty is ideally placed to know how to notch up a rare away victory.
"You've got to get off to a good start and not be frightened to play," he added.
The only thing that matters to me is going up there and coming away with a result, simple as that.
Lewis Moody
"If you get into a kicking battle or a slow affair of kicking them into the corners, they're the masters of it.
"If you can hurt them early and play at pace that's when you put yourself in with the best shout."
Both players could be excused for having mixed emotions about the match having collectively spent 22 years at Leicester but are not letting sentiment get in the way.
"When it comes to the game it's just another game and I'll be trying to beat my friends up and score tries," continued Vesty.
"That's rugby, you play against people you know a lot of the time."
Moody added: "I was at the club a long time and any wisdom I can impart on the Bath guys I've been making sure I get that across.
"The only thing that matters to me is going up there and coming away with a result, simple as that."
