James is South Africa's most capped fly-half

Bath fly-half Butch James is likely to miss his side's opening game at Leeds after being called up by the Springboks for the Tri-Nations series.

James, who has 35 caps for his country, is likely to feature in the Boks' home games, which run until 4 September. Bath travel to Leeds on 5 September.

The 31-year-old has been named among the replacements for South Africa's tie with Australia on Saturday.

New arrival Sam Vesty is on stand-by to replace James for Bath.
