Beattie signs extended Bath deal

Bath flanker Andy Beattie
Beattie has made 160 appearances for Bath Rugby

Bath flanker Andy Beattie has signed a new contract with the club which will keep him at the Recreation Ground for at least another two years.

Beattie joined Bath in the 2001/02 season and has made over 160 appearances but was hampered by a knee injury at the end of last season.

"It was one of the easiest decisions I have ever had to make in my life," said the 30-year-old.

"When I knew Bath was keen to re-sign me I jumped at the chance."

Head coach Steve Meehan has been very pleased with Beattie's progress since undergoing surgery on his knee last year.

"I am very happy to see him stay," said Meehan. " I think that his form last season, before his injury, was excellent.

"Since he came back he has been very enthusiastic and playing very well. He is also a popular member of the squad and a very under-rated blind side flanker."
