Beattie had been pushing for international selection |
Bath flanker Andy Beattie will miss the remainder of the season with a broken leg and ankle ligament damage. Beattie left the field seven minutes into England A's 30-20 victory over France at the Recreation Ground on Friday night.
"Andy has broken his distal tibia and also ruptured a deep ligament on the inside of his ankle," said Bath's Head of Physical Preparation Chris Mallac.
"I would say that he is looking at around 12 weeks out of action."
Beattie will have his leg plastered on Wednesday once the swelling has gone down a little.
He will then see a specialist in Bristol on Thursday morning to obtain a second opinion to determine whether the break requires pinning.
"Sometimes players can come back in four to six weeks from this type of injury, but because Andy is a 120kg line-out forward a lot of pressure is placed through the foot when he plays," said Mallac.
Bath have signed Italian international fly-half Ramiro Pez on a short-term contract until the end of the season. Director of rugby Jack Rowell said: "Ramiro joins us as a player with both international experience with Italy and Zurich Premiership experience with Leicester Tigers."
