Short sustained the injury against former club Leicester

Bath are set to bring in a lock to help cover the absences through injury of Peter Short and Danny Grewcock.

Short, 29, has undergone surgery on his thumb after sustaining an injury in the defeat at Leicester, while Grewcock, 36, is sidelined with a foot problem.

"In the very short-term Andy Beattie and Jonny Faamatuainu will fill that role," said coach Steve Meehan.

"But we're talking to players about coming in, using the injury allowance, to join us for the rest of the season."
